Environment

Being the market leader in the recycling of lead-acid batteries, Orzeł Biały feels especially obliged and committed to protecting the environment. The nature of the industry means that the Company’s emphasis is put on the implementation and development of projects related to the recovery and re-use of all materials arising in the process of battery scrap recycling. Each scheme is developed so as to optimise the recycling of batteries  as well as to reduce the amount of waste generated, to provide for waste re-usability, also waste coming from other waste processing companies, in particular waste containing lead compounds.

Co financing and eu projects

In 2011 through 2014, Orzeł Biały S.A. implemented, as part of a comprehensive Investment. Programme totalling approximately PLN 78.8 million, two projects co-financed with public funds.

Certificates

Orzeł Biały operates a Quality Management System in accordance with PN-EN ISO 9001: 2015, PN-EN ISO 14001: 2015 and PN-ISO 45001:2018.

On 26/04/2018, Orzeł Biały SA became the laureate of the Polish Register of Cleaner Production and Responsible Entrepreneurship.

Research & development

In 2011 through 2014, Orzeł Biały had been running an investment program – the largest in its history – where, using national and EU funds, a cutting-edge Research and Development Facility was set up dealing with the modelling and optimisation of technological non-ferrous alloys processes. Research, analytical testing, quality control of production processes, initiating and implementing of innovative and pro-growth solutions are the main tasks of the Research and Development Facility so established.

Corporate social responsibility

Orzeł Biały has, since the beginning of its operations, been associated with Piekary Śląskie. The company supports local communities and initiatives and has been supporting associations, sports clubs, medical facilities and schools.

In order to achieve the intended goals, the Company conducts its activities in a targeted and organized manner, implementing, applying and improving the Integrated Quality, Environment and Health and Safety Management System based on the requirements of EN ISO 9001:2015, EN ISO 14001: 2015, PN-ISO 45001: 2018, legal and other requirements that apply to the organization and are related to the environmental aspects and health and safety risks identified in the organization, including BAT conclusions for the non-ferrous metals industry (Decision (EU) 2016/1032) and for waste treatment (Decision (EU) 2018/1147)
